Summit Park Announces Addition of Adam Smith to LEAD Program

Summit Park, a Charlotte-based private equity firm focused exclusively on the lower middle market, is pleased to announce the addition of Adam Smith to our LEAD Program.  The Leadership Excellence and Development (“LEAD”) Program develops talented, operationally-focused executives for leadership positions in the Summit Park portfolio. LEAD executives assume a meaningful and mission critical leadership role at a designated Summit Park investment, with a focus on growth and operational efficiency initiatives.

Mr. Smith joined the LEAD program with Summit Park’s acquisition of Fast Growing Trees (“FGT”). Mr. Smith is the Vice President of Corporate Development at FGT where he will focus on improving operational efficiencies, driving revenue growth and developing new business opportunities.

“We are pleased to have Adam join the LEAD Program and the FGT team and know that he will add immediate value to the company. He has direct experience in the nursery industry, and we expect him to contribute significantly to the continued growth of the company,” said Jim Johnson, Managing Partner of Summit Park.

Prior to joining FGT, Mr. Smith was co-head of the Consumer and Retail M&A group at BlackArch Partners, a boutique investment bank. He was formerly a sales and marketing leader for global consumer product companies such as Procter & Gamble and Newell Rubbermaid, as well as one of the largest greenhouses in America. Additionally, he co-founded a mobile technology company that developed innovative ways for leading brands to reach consumers while shopping in stores.

Mr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University where he received a BS in Business Economics and Public Policy.  He received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
